Why Now Is the Best Time to Buy Sporting Goods for Christmas Gifts
The holiday season is approaching, and it’s time to start thinking about the perfect Christmas gifts. Sporting goods make fantastic gifts for adventurers, or anyone who loves the outdoors. With great deals available now, you can give meaningful gifts while saving money. Plus, shopping early ensures you’ll have plenty of time to find exactly what you need without stress. Focus on the activities that are not in season for the BEST deals. Stores are wanting to move inventory to make room for the 2025 models.
Top Sporting Goods to Buy for Christmas Gifts
Whether it’s for someone who loves hunting, hiking, or the outdoors in general, sporting goods are always in high demand during the holidays. Some of the top items to consider include:
- Camping Gear: Tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and portable stoves make excellent gifts for outdoor enthusiasts. Look for durable, high-quality brands that will last for years of adventures.
- Hunting Accessories: Rifles, scopes, binoculars, and other hunting accessories are always in demand. If you know someone who loves to hunt, now is the time to find great deals.
- Cycling Gear: Bicycles, helmets, and accessories like lights and storage solutions are great gifts for anyone who enjoys cycling or commuting by bike.
- Golf Clubs: Know a golfer dreaming of a new putter, driver or golf bag, watch for steep deals to save money.
- Football: Have football players in the house? Buy the cleats, gloves now and save for next season to save money!
How to Save Money on Sporting Goods Gifts
Take advantage of sales like Cyber Monday, holiday discounts and year-end closeouts. Many sporting goods retailers offer significant markdowns on popular items to make room for new inventory after the New Year. If you plan ahead, you can score big savings while ensuring you’ve picked out the perfect gear for your loved ones.
Why You Should Plan Now for Your 2025 Elk Hunt
Looking ahead to the next big adventure? Planning for an elk hunt in 2025 may seem far away, but getting ready now can help you secure the best gear, permits, and experience. Here’s why early preparation matters:
Securing Your Elk Hunting Permit Early
Elk hunting permits can be competitive, especially in popular hunting regions. MANY states have a lottery system, and applying early increases your chances of getting the coveted tags. Starting your preparations now ensures you’re ready when the time comes to submit your application.
Colorado Elk Hunting: 2025
In 2025, Colorado will implement a number of changes to elk hunting, including a draw system for tags and a reduction in nonresident hunting opportunities:
Draw system
Hunters will need to apply for tags by a deadline, and tags will be allocated through a lottery. This change is intended to manage hunter numbers and elk populations, and improve the overall hunting experience
Nonresident archery elk tags
Over-the-counter (OTC) archery elk tags for nonresidents will no longer be available. Nonresidents will need to apply for tags in the annual draw. This change is due to concerns about overcrowding, as Colorado has historically offered the most nonresident elk hunting opportunities in the West.
Shop Local: Craft & Vendor Shows
Supporting local businesses by attending craft fairs or vendor shows has many benefits, especially when it comes to the holidays and sporting goods. Not only do you support your local economy, but you also gain access to personalized service and expert advice.
Supporting Your Community and Local Economy
Buying local helps your community thrive!
At a recent Craft / Vendor Show we were surprised to learn of a new winery only 30 minutes from our home! This new knowledge has us already excited for a Wine Tasting Adventure in the near future plus we were able to grab several bottles of wine that make perfect gifts during the holidays!
Shopping local ensures that small businesses can continue to offer jobs and services that benefit everyone. Plus, your purchase might come with the bonus of knowing exactly where the product came from and who you’re supporting.
BUY THIS “Solo Stove” – But ask first for Price Match
Remember that many businesses understand having to be Price Competitive. Do not be afraid to ask if “Price Matching” is done.
Example: Find the make model of the Solo Stove you are wanting on SoloStove.com and then show a Sales Associate at the store you are shopping. It’s worth the ask!
Note: Solo Stove is NOT a sponsor at the time this post was published, we do enjoy the Solo Stove we purchased and are happy with the fast igniting.
The Gift Your Hunter Will Appreciate
After harvesting the meat from our game, the next step is always – What will I make this year? Jerky is a favorite and we have found a dehydrator that we love and use all year long.
The Cosori Food Dehydrator has saved time and delivers tender jerky. We are the size size that has 10 Trays and is 16.2ft². This machine has had no issues dehydrating 12lbs of meat at a time. A gift that will be appreciated for both men and women.
NOTE: This is not a sponsored/paid for review. We, Tigger & BEC, purchased this machine in March 2024 and have used it every two weeks acquiring. This Cosori Food Dehydrator has produced the perfect, tender jerky that all love.
